I used the mohair from my UFO and made this shawl. It didn't take as long as I thought it would.

I got a parcel today :) and I was thrilled with it. This is my swap scarf from my secret swapper. The girls are modelling..but it's mine! They do want them.

Was just watching the latest Letsknit2gether Vidcast and Kat was showing her UnFinished Objects.

Well my oldest is from 1995? ( just before kids)
It's a mohair jumper I've finished the back and about a 1/5 of the front.

It's a good quality Mohair.. I don't think I'll every wear this jumper if I ever finished it.

So what to do with the Mohair? It was from the Bendigo Woollen mills.

Any suggestions?

Rainy day Socks

I finished a pair of Rainy Day socks from magknits

These are knitted in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino dk, 55% Merino Wool 33% microfibre 12% Cashmere. Which I bought from the The Wool Shack

ABC - Custom Quilt - Not My design

I made this quilt from a kit supplied by Rebecca. She received it as a gift from her nan and hadn't got around to completing it.
The title of the quilt is ABC and the designer is Gail B.
A very simple design using homespuns. I backed the top with a black polar fleece. It was quilted with a varigated thread with an all over stipple. It's been a while since I've done any quilting. The knitting and crochet has taken over again, being easier to do in front of the fire. :)

New Capris and socks for Lilly

I hand dyed 200gms of Bendigo Woolen Mills wool. I had enough wool to make a pair of Capris and matching socks for Lilly. The sock pattern I generated with a great little site HERE

New toys!

Thanks to the Australian Govt. I had some extra money to play with this week. I bought myself a skeiner and ball winder from The Wool Shack. Here's the the link. Their service was awesome! my goodies arrived in the week! I was inspired to wind wool into skeins for dying and skeins into balls for knitting. I'm really impressed how much faster and easier these tools make the job.



I have a commission for some custom sea themed longies. I've dyed the wool and I'm pretty happy with the results :)



and lastly ...... my first attempt at deliberate felting. It still needs it's zip and the embellishment sewn down. I'm pretty happy with it. I hope the recipiant is too :)

WHW Wool wrap

I started this this morning. Being a little slack and avoiding putting the binding on a quilt. I used the WHW wrap pattern and added buttons and button holes as I don't like vlecro on woolies.
The WHW wrap pattern is a PDF file and it's here.
I used 8ply (DK) not worsted and 2.75mm for the rib and 4mm for the body.
I ran out of wool and ended up using a different wool for the back rib :) Ah Well..I should weigh the wrap now so I know next time how much wool I'll need.

Newborn Soaker sack - trial pattern

I have not tested this pattern! so you try it with no guarantee to fit or usefulness :) I'm still amazed at how small babies really are! and even though I have done a little research and THINK I have worked the sizing right, I won't know until bub has test driven it. I'm sharing what I have knitted for baby boy 6.

If you do knit this and find mistakes please let me know so I can fix it up or take the pattern down. There is nothing worse than wasting good time and wool on a poor pattern.

Soaker sacks are to keep bubs legs warm and make for easier night time nappy changes, like longies without having to chase their legs into legs LOL

They are better than a full wool sleeper sack (in my opinion) as they prevent wicking of mositure to the baby's top clothing. The top is worn WITHOUT being tucked into the sack :D - Just in case you're a bit slow like me and have mummy brain :D

To change baby you unbutton the bottom of the bag and pull up, change baby and rebutton the bottom. Or just undo the drawstring and remove bag, change baby and put back on.

8ply wool 3.25 needles for rib and 4mm for body.
Stitch markers

Abbreviations
k - knit
p- purl
yo - yarn over needle to creat a sttich
co - cast on

Cast on 80sts

Ribbing
k2p2 for 12 rows
drawstring row
k2,yo, p2tog.
work 4 more rows of k2p2 ribbing.

body
Change to 4mm needles and work in stocking stitch until work measures 12 inches.

base of sack
Place stitch markers between st 19 & 20 and 59 & 60. Stitches 60 and 19 are the front, 20 to 59 the back.
Row 1 Knit stitches 20 to 59 and purl stitches 60 to 19.
Row 2 knit all stitches
Repeat row 1 and 2 4 times - creating a garter stitch panel at the front.
Cast off stitches 60 to 19, leaving 20 to 59 to be worked as the back flap.

Back flap
work in garter stitch back and forth in knit stitch for 6 rows.
button holes rows
Row1 k3, cast off 2, k9, cast off 2, k9 sts cast off 2, k8 cast off 2, k3
row 2 k3, cast on2, k8, co2, k9co2, k9co2, k3
work 2 more rows of knit and cast off.

finishing
weave in ends .
sew on 4 buttons to match button holes.
make a drawstring. I like to crochet one with 2 strands of wool. insert through holes in ribbing.
