More Op-Shop Treasures

I went Op-Shopping again yesterday in Port Pirie and got a huge haul of goodies!
Lots of fabric including 3m of Flannelette.
Some ricrac, buttons and zips.
And some great baby clothes.

I couldn't believe my luck! and it cost me around $50!! all up.

New Dress from old skirt

I went Op-shopping on Friday and found a size 10 Ladies skirt in the most beautiful embroidered cotton fabric. It was perfect for a make over into a new dress for Lilly. I managed to cut the back and front from the back and front of the skirt. I used some white poly cotton for the facings and added snaps at the shoulders to save me doing buttons and buttonholes.

Woolaholics Chocolate swap.

My chocolate swap arrived ...from DONNA

Donna and I chat most days and she didn't give it away once.
And she came up with the idea of a chocolate swap when we were chatting one day.

She couldn't believe it when she got ME as her swapper.

I got some Lindt chocolate my favourite, some Organic hot chocolate which I'm already drinking, Yummy bikkies, MM's ..which are for the kids and some nappies for the bub on the way.

When I opened the parcel Lilly said, "Baby will like nappies."

Left Over Wool Socks

I had some left over wool from my last two sock club socks and not wanting to waste it I used it it make some anklet socks.

Needles: 3.75mm Addi Turbo Circs
YaRN: Fyberspates BFL in Blue Lagoon and Moss
Pattern: adapted from Lion Brand - striped footies

Modifications: I used a k1 p1 rib for the cuff and contrast colour for the heels and toes. I didn't do the stripes.

Moss Socks

First pair of my Southern Summer of Socks finished.

Yarn: Fyberspates BFL Moss Colour way
Pattern: Moss from Fybersplates Sock Club
Needles: 3.25mm DPNS

I used a sewn off cast off to keep the ribbing elastic. Instructions came from Woolwonder.com

I have cast on the first sock for my second pair.

A simple Smock and matching shorts

The fabrics for this were once a tablecloth ( with a burn mark) and a pillowcase. So another outfit which cost next to nothing to make.
The short pattern I drafted myself the smock pattern came from a blog Mayflower

Shoulder bag

I've gone Bag "happy". and of course 12 midnight is the perfect time to start a new project when you're 7 months pregnant. The instruction for this bag came from a wonderful Blog called Tiny Happy

The bag took less than an hour to make. All the materials (except thread) came from the op-shop. Making this a very cheap project too.. less than $2 all up.

Bucket Bag

Made from fabric and a button from the op-shop. The lining was a pillowcase in a past life. The directions for making this came from a book called Sew Easy Bags. Very quick to make.

The Latest Creations

A tiny little elephant for the new baby. A pinwheel blanket still in progress.



And a cute little Joe the Worm or is he a caterpillar?



These are amazing to make! Very quick and quirky.Called The Crazy Dishcloth



Finally completed a bag for a special friend.



A new skirt and top for Lilly. Based on a pillowcase dress the top has elastic in the chest casing.

Mid pregnancy energy rush :)

New skirt for Lilly. Lilly is toilet training right now and we can't put pants on her. I'll be making her a few little skirts to hide her little bottom :)



A new cardi for the new baby. I hope the scan is right and it is a boy or I'll be knitting another!


Another project for the new baby :) Very quick and easy to do this one! Only took a few hours.

And finally I have cast on a sock for my challenge in the Southern Summer of Socks.

Mommy Snug Finished.

Yarn: Sierra Cascade 800gms - bought from Yarnsonline
Needles: Knit Picks options 4.5mm
Cast on: 27th August 2007 Cast off: 4th October 2007
Tension: The Sierra knitted in 2x2 rib was 35st and 20rows to 10cms. Original pattern Gauge was 41sts and 30rows


Modifications
Due to the difference in tension from the original yarn. I knitted 2 sizes smaller and shortened the number of rows in the body and sleeves. I also increased the sleeves in every fourth row instead of every 6th . When completed I wasn't happy with how the low the neckline was, due to tension difference of the yarns. So I sewed up the front of the neckline by 3 inches.

New Challenge

Ok time to set some goals:

1. To knit 2 pairs of socks per month until xmas, 6 pairs in total
2. Learn and try the magic Loop method.
3. Finish one pair of socks before casting on the next :) - this is the hard one!

But before I can start I NEED to finish the Mommy Snug. I don't have too much more to do but I'm so bored with it. Miles and miles of 2x2 rib are so boring. I fell like that fish in the Finding Nemo movie ... just keep knitting...just keep knitting.. just keep knitting.
