My dad passed away after a long battle with cancer.
He fought hard and never gave in. He was so positive and strong.
He died with my mum holding his hand at home.
I was fortunate enough to be there when he passed and to share the last hours of his life.
My mum was amazing she cared for him to the end.
She and Dad kept their marriage vows of 41years and only death parted them.
My Mum 's mum also passed away the day before at the age of 86 years. A huge double blow to us all.
He is Gone
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your
back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.
"Tomorrow is a new day." Dad would tell us when things were tough

I lost my Mom just over one year ago to cancer. I was holding my moms hand for over 10 hours and when she passed away. I wanted Mom to know she was loved very much and was not alone. My sister, her hubby and kids, my hubby and kids, brother and sister-in-law were also with Mom.

Tracy, I am so sorry to hear that your dad passed. I hope that you will have strength and can pass his love onto your children as they grow. He is watching you and will always be in your heart.
I'm so sorry that your dad passed away...I lost my mom in 2002 (my dad in 1964, so I never really knew him)2 1/2 weeks after my last baby was born. I'll be praying for you.
