Knitted Knickers - high leg soaker in two sizes!

Knitted Knickers Pattern

Reworked for waist 44cm, rise 45 cm and thigh 28 cm
Yarn used, 2X 50g balls of 8 ply that knits at 22st / 10cms on 4mm needles.

IMPORTANT: Please knit a test square to ensure you are knitting at this tension. You can change the needle size to adjust your tension.

This pattern is knitted in one piece and starts at the front band.

4mm needles used through out.

FRONT

Cast on (J-48) stitches. (A multiple of 4 stitches for a k2 p2 rib)
Rows 1        k2 p2 to end.
Row 2 p2 k2 to end
repeat twice more
Row 7:        k2 (p2 wrap yarn around needle k2tog) to last 4 stitches p2 k2 ( Drawstring row)
Row 8 - 14       k2 p2
Row 15       knit
Row 16       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 21       k twice into first stitch, knit to last two stitches, increase into next stitch, k1 (J-50)
Row 22       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 27       repeat row 21 (J -52)
Row 28       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 33        repeat row 21 (J- 54)
Row 34        purl
Row 35       knit
Row 36       purl
Row 37       knit
Row 38       purl
Start shaping leg hole.
Row 39       cast off 2, knit to end (J - 52)
Row 40        cast off 2 in purl, purl to end (J - 50)
For Jessica
Row 41 k2 tog, knit to last 2 stitches, k2tog (J-48)
Row 42 P2 tog, purl to last 2 stitches, p2 tog (J-46)
Repeat until there are 18 stitches remaining

Crotch
Row 59 knit
Row 60 knit
Repeat row 59 and 60 once more

Increasing for back
Row 63       cast on 2 stitches knit to end (18)
Row 64       cast on 2 in purl, purl to end. (20)
Repeat rows 63 & 64 until you have 60 stitches.
Row 85       knit
Row 86       purl
Repeat 85 and 86 8 times
Row 103       k1 k2 tog through back of stitches, knit to last 3, k2tog, k1 (58)
Row 104       purl
Repeat rows 103 and 104, 5 times Until there are 48 stitches
Row 115       k2p2 to end
Repeat row 115 7 times
Row 123       (k2 wrapyarn around needle p2 tog) repeat to last 4 sts k2 p2
Row 124       - k2,p2 to end
repeat row 124 6 times
Cast off

Sew side seams. The back is two rows longer and wider than the front to allow extra nappy room.

Single crochet around leg holes. I did 2 rows on Jessica’s and added a row of “shells”

Jessica's has a wider crotch than Lilly's.

I designed this pattern to fit my child.And have tested it on her.

Waist 48cm, At Belly Button.
rise over nappy of 46cm, Measured from belly button to curve of spine
hip over nappy 57cm and top of leg 31cm. Measurement from 11cm below wasit

Row 15       knit
Row 16       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 21       k twice into first stitch, knit to last two stitches, increase into next stitch, k1 (54)
Row 22       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 27       repeat row 21(56)
Row 28       purl
Repeat rows 15 and 16 twice more
Row 33        repeat row 21 (58)
Row 34        purl
Row 35       knit
Row 36       purl
Row 37       knit
Row 38       purl
Start shaping leg hole.
Row 39       cast off 2, knit to end (56)
Row 40        cast off 2 in purl, purl to end (54)
continue decreasing as in rows 39 & 40 until there are 12 stitches remaining.
Crotch
Row 61       Knit
Row 62        purl
Repeat row 61 and 62 once more
Increasing for back
Row 65       cast on 2 stitches knit to end (14)
Row 66       cast on 2 in purl, purl to end. (16)
Repeat rows 65 & 66 until you have 64 stitches.
Row 91       knit
Row 92       purl
Repeat 91 and 92 6 times
Row 105       k1 k2 tog through back of stitches, knit to last 3, k2tog, k1 (62)
Row 106       purl
Repeat rows 105 and 106 5 times Until there are 52 stitches
Row 116       k2p2 to end
Repeat row 116 7 times
Row 124       (k2 wrapyarn around needle p2 tog) repeat to last 4 sts k2 p2
Row 125       - k2,p2 to end
repeat row 125 6 times
Cast off

Sew side seams. The back is two rows longer and wider than the front to allow extra nappy room.

Single crochet around leg holes. I did 5 rounds. You can adjust the tighness of the leg by the number of crochet stitches you pick up. On Lilly's below i should have had less crochet stitches.

Finally make a drawstring for your knickers

Ohhh Tracy, I am looking foreward to trying out this pattern. I LOVE how they look on Lilly. almost like hot pants...I really ahte hot pants LOL but in a soaker form its adorable!!! (and it covers the bum properly) haha anyways don't mind me!!! :P

Great pattern! I'm new to knitting, I was wondering how you attach the front to the back or do you just knit on circular needles?

The pattern is knitted in the flat and folded at the crotch then the side seams sewn together. I hope that helps. It's been a long time since I made these.
